Chinese New Year 2014

The long awaited Chinese New Year has finally came (and went)!

As usual, Day 1 to paternal's side.

Had our annual movie session in the evening. Watched The Lion Men that was a waste of time.

Day 2, maternal's side

And, went budget this year. The two tops for both days of CNY were from Cotton On that was on offer. But I quite love it though.

Happiest thing were relatives commenting I've slimmed down. Making me more motivated to lose more weight! Although I haven't been doing anything and continued eating alot.

Anyway, year 1 in poly is ending very soon! Can't wait for holiday to come.

Jack & the Beansprout by W!ld Rice, Frozen w Friends

Volunteered a total of four sessions for the following show, Jack & the Bean-Sprout by W!ld Rice. My first time volunteering with them, but definitely not the last. In return, I got to watch the show for free. It was awesome! I would recommend people to watch it, unfortunately, the show has ended.

During my last volunteering session which also happens to be the last day of the show, they organised a christmas feast buffet for all the staffs, casts, and volunteers. We even got the disc that consist of all the song tracks that was played in the show each for free too.

Yesterday, met up with three classmates for Seoul Garden buffet then followed by movie after that. It has been a regular plan, it seems.

Watched Frozen!

5/5 stars! Nothing to complain about. Totally awesome. Funny & sad. You'll regret not watching!

Side note, holiday is here! I shall spend it wisely by rotting at home. Wahahaha.

Polyclinic, Movie

Went for a check up on my backache in the morning around 11am+ with mom. Got referred for an x-ray and after hours of waiting, as expected. Doctor say nothing is wrong. Perhaps it's either my walking, seating or sleepig postures that caused the backache. Got two days of MC which also happens that it's my last two days of classes for this semester.

Got a shocked when we made payment. $65 for the bill! If I knew x-ray will cause that much, I would never go for it and especially when the doctor could not find what is wrong.

Around 5pm+, split up with mom and waited for Eileen to reach. We planned to watch
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones

Awesome movie! 4.5/5. Lots of story events and actions.
Only read the beginning of the novel version. Guess I shall continue when I have the time!

Icon by Shunji Matsuo

Last Sunday, 11 August 2013

Went all the way to Tanjong Pagar, 100AM for hair treatment with Lihern. We bought the $38 groupon vouchers which includes Hair & Scalp treatment. Then I added additional step for the scalp treatment and a hair cut by my stylist which happens to be a senior one.

Total: $32 (UP $40) + $25 + GST = $60.95 + $38 (Groupon)

Spent so much for my hair! Side note, my hair is short now again which I'm liking it!

After that, went off the meet Eileen and her family for the 7th Month Dinner.

Busy period coming, with all the talks after classes, then FOH volunteer, and most important UT3.

Total bill:

Orthopantomogram : $80.25
Lateral Cephalogram : $80.25

Total: $230.05

If I were to take up their package for braces, this fee would be waived off.

Hopefully the pricing offered would be cheap and no extractions needed although I know it only happens with very very slim chance.

Can't wait!

925 Chicken Rice & Pee Mak

Last minute planning to watch Pee Mak with Vanessa during class. Booked the tickets in advance!

After the UT, went for dinner first at 925 Chicken Rice. First try. Heard a lot of raves about it.

It's pretty good! Now I know why my cousin can finish the whole chicken with another two of her friends.

Pee Mak at 7:30PM! Another awesome movie. Funny, Sad and Sweet all in one movie.
5/5!

Bused home and do RJ before having the chance to rest and end the night. Boo.

World War Z

Caught World War Z yesterday with two classmates of mine, Vanessa and Kylin. Booked the tickets in the morning and waited excitedly for the evening to reach. It was a pretty long day with test after the usual lesson.

Reached North Point at 6:30PM, bought some snacks as dinner and went off to Golden Village.

4.5/5 Pretty awesome and exciting. The actions started like less than 10 mins from the start of the movie. I love it, less talking, more actions.

Went home after the movie because there's class still, the next day.

Been watching a lot of movies this month. And there's a few more I want to catch! Why all good movies just came at the same time. Boo.

Day Out With Maggie

Met Maggie in the morning for the appointment with the Vet for her cat. Her cat is going for sterilization and microchipping. Maggie's father drove us there to drop her cat, then dropped us at Sembawang Shopping Centre.

Feeling scared, perhaps. Been very quiet and still. Unlike her usual self.

Walked around, and decided to go to Seoul Garden for brunch, since we have student price.

Maggie's treat for my birthday!

Watched movie after that to pass time as we have to go back to fetch her cat in the evening.

Decided on Now You See Me

4/5 stars. Not as exciting as I thought based on the trailer. But still very interesting! Although I was expecting and hoping for more awesome magic scenes than the typical cops chasing 'thieves' parts.
I will rewatch again when it's available online!

After a short walk, waited for Maggie's father and off we go! Tiring day as I have been going out daily for the week, with not enough sleep as I had to wake up very early for all the outings.

Need to rest at home for the weekends! Not only for my body and for my wallet to rest too. Spent way too much, especially on all the good (and expensive) foods. Exception to this week only, as it was the birthday week!

City Square Again With The Cousins

Cousin Apple and I planned to bring two of our younger cousins out for a day trip set on this particular day.
Initially, the plan was to go Bird Park as there is a promotion meant for school holidays. Last minute changed of plan as cousin's leg was in pain. Couldn't think of where to go, and ended up back to Momiji again! Since the two sisters are Japan lovers.

No photos of the foods this time, since it's practically the same.

Mom passed me money to treat them! Ended up nearing $100 for four of us.

Decided to watch movie after that! Chose Epic as there was no other suitable movies for the twelve year old cousin.

3.5/5 stars! Pretty nice and funny, but as the storyline was meant for children, everything that goes along was  already expected.

Went to play at Time Zone for a short while as well! Been so many years.

Had dinner over there as well! Decided on Old Town White Coffee after a very long decision.

Apple's treat this time round! Also for my birthday treat.

Ended our day after that! Fun and tiring.

Genting Trip, 4 Days 3 Nights

5 June 2013, Wednesday - 8 June 2013, Saturday

Was supposed to worked for a week at my previous office during my second week of my school break. Then on Monday, mom texted me to say she's going Indonesia, and insisted me to go as well. After some persuading, decided to go. And the trip is happening on Wednesday. Two days later! Most last minute trip ever.

The thing is, all the along I thought we were going Indonesia until that very morning when we board the coach and I asked her, saying isn't that coach going Genting? Then she replied me saying we are going Genting as my birthday was coming and she wanted to give me a Surprise! Very surprised indeed! And so, all I had packed was shorts and t-shirts. No cardigan nor jacket.

Went there to relax, eat and shop. Not many photos for this trip as nothing has changed.

Watched After Earth over there! Felt it's quite interesting, except some illogical parts. 3/5 stars.

Tore open my pouch as the zip came off and our room card was inside ._."

Bought these from Sasa as they were having sales!

Mom insisted I buy a cardigan even though I said I wasn't cold. Didn't use it even once.

It was always only during overseas trip that I am willing to buy Starbucks. Drank it daily!

I did love to go again, especially next year where I will be able to step in the casino legally!

Outing with cousins

On the 22 May 2013, Wednesday, I met up with cousin, Apple for korean bbq buffet! It was a last minute thing, and so I spent the time in class googling for one restaurant. Decided on Gangnam Garden at City Square Mall! The food was ok, except that the variety was very little and the price was not cheap. I think it was $30 or $35 for each pax.

One thing we both loved about that mall is the quietness and emptiness. So we've decided to go back there again very soon!

And as it was school break for me after Wednesday's last class, we both decided to not end the night so early since neither of us have either school or work the next day. So, we decided to catch a movie before calling it a night! Went for Coffee bean to chill while waiting for the time to reach. Cousin treated me for the Hazelnut Ice Blended! I'm craving for it again since. I guess it's my new found expensive favourite drink.

 Decided on Star Trek!

It was good. Despite neither of us watched the first movie of this. 4/5 stars!

Then on the 24 May 2013, Friday, met with another cousin of mine, Lihern to catch Fast Furious 6! We went to Dhoby Ghaut for meal, and cousin's quick shopping. Went back to her place to rest, then off to North Point! Bought Share Tea along, then popcorn and off we go.

Definitely a great movie. Been waiting for this to come out! 4.5/5!

Although I prefer the previous bank robbery scene where the two main lead work together and pulled the vault around the streets slamming everything in the way!

Mother's Day dinner at Cafe De Paradiso

So, initially was intending to treat mom for vegetarian mother's day dinner. Then, I asked her if she wants to ask my grandma along, as the previous night when they celebrate mother's day with the other aunts and uncles, we were not there. Decided on this Cafe since it's near my grandma, and I have been wanting to try it. Last minute, mom asked my neighbour along, as her sons are not taking her to any dinner and will be alone at home. Lucky us, mom friend drove us to my grandma's. Ended up cousin came along too.

WRONG CHOICE

Here's the bad experience. Before we were seated, we ordered our food first cause we know it will take awhile to be done. We ordered around 7.45pm. The claypot yi mee came, without any utensils. Mom self-serviced to get it. Then, vegetarian sharkfin soup came. Without any small bowl as well. They just dump the big bowl here and went off. Until we call out. After that, the cereal prawn came. We just stared at it cause our rice wasn't here! Halfway, the table beside us asked for two water, and the waitress slam the drinks on our table without checking and went off. We have to pass the drinks ourselves to the next table.

This is one thing I am most mad of. After nearing to 8.45pm, I checked with the waitress on the rest of our dishes, if she have missed out ordering it. She assured me it's on the way. And went off. Shortly, I saw the chef shouting to her, asking her HOW MANY BAKED RICE IS NEEDED, AND SHE ANSWERED THREE. So what is this? ON THE WAY? You didn't even send the orders to the kitchen in the first place! My mom, cousin and neighbour was very hungry already. The baked rice only came at over 9pm. It took over 1 and a half hour for their supposedly dinner to come.

Then at first, we ordered satay as well. I saw them serving a few to other tables, and stopped. Until I checked with them as well, and they said it's coming. After very long awhile, I saw them mass serving the satays. Like what? Shouldn't you serve based on the table's order instead of mass producing then serving them all at once and let the tables that ordered first wait so long?

I ordered an Ice Chocolate and Banana Chocolate, and after awhile, the Ice Chocolate came. After waiting, I checked again, and they forgot my Banana Chocolate...

The very last dish came, potato cheese balls. When we were already done with other food at like 9.30pm which is their closing time. We thought they forgot this again, and never bothered to ask them.

And the bill. What to expect? More problem. I checked through and saw a smoothie, and a cappuccino charged to us. Then I saw 12 cups of plain water charged to us as well. 5 person drinking 12 cups of water. You kidding me? We came for water buffet? They just mixed up the table's bills and anyhow charge! Ended up they overcharged us over $10+. So glad I checked the bill. Normally, I don't.

Total bill came up to $95.

Totally feel so heart pain. Not cause of the money, but we have to pay for the unpleasant experience, and making my mom and others suffer with empty stomach for so long. When it's supposed to be a celebration.

Will I ever go back again, NO. Unless someone wants to treat, and it's not during peak hour time.
In my opinion, if they can't handle so many customers, then don't open so many tables.
Although the food was not bad.

The only picture I took when we just settled down. Nice ambience though. Then I never bothered to take photos of their foods after that. Was already fuming mad.

Mom and cousin

P/S: Don't get plain water next time if you wanna go. They charge us 50 cents per cup, and never bothered to let us know when we ordered it, never thinking it's so expensive.

Results & Movie

On the 28th of Mar, my results for the final two modules were released. I got an sms for the result in the morning at 8am. I was hoping to not spot an F when I saw that I had two As! Literally shouted a 'YES'. Went on to the student portal to double confirm my results. And true enough. Literally started dancing around and singing 'I got two As' repeatedly to my mom and myself.

I'm really really proud of myself. Friends told me my hardwork has paid off. Especially my POA. I got so depressed for a few lessons when I totally got lost in the teaching and nearly cried out in class when one of my classmate asked me what happened as I seemed down. Studied and practiced like mad with two classmates a couple of days before the exam. And during the test, I couldn't tally those that are supposed to be tally. So after the exam, I was really upset and hope that I can at least still pass.

Friends told me the teacher mentioned marks deducted for the tally is not big. Most important is the format. Thanks to that, I managed to pass! As for Communication Skills and IT, I'm not worried at all, as I feel that I could pass, and hoped for an A. True enough as well! Thanks to this final results, my GPA has pulled up abit. Was regretting not giving my best for the first four modules, as I was hoping for a pass only. Now that I am planning to further my study, then I realised the importance of the GPA. Oh well.

THIS MARKS THE END OF MY HIGHER NITEC STUDIES!
Shall update on the next step if I've successfully got in what I wanted.

On the very same day during the evening, I went to watch The Host with Eileen! Booked the tickets in advance. It's a very fresh story, and I love it! 4/5 stars for me.

Movies & Valentine's Day Date with Eileen

Watched this on First day of Chinese New Year, 10th of Feb with the cousins! Totally love it. 4.5/5!

14th Feb 2013

On the Valentine's Day, I dated with Eileen! It was a coincidence about the date actually. We had lunch, then movie after that!

Eileen's treat to Ichiban! Actually ordered more, but couldn't wait to start eating already. Total bill was around $54.
Eileen chose this movie Beautiful Creatures, and it's my treat! Quite ok, but no cast inside is good looking. A pretty forgettable movie for me. 3/5.

Hansel & Gretel, Gathering

Watched Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters last week with Eileen. Love this movie! Only find it a little bit too short. Might be in my watching list if it's made a series instead!

I love how the witches are designed! And their sound effect. Awesome!

4/5 for me!

Yesterday, it was the 'last' gathering of the lunar year for my maternal side. Went with the mother and second brother. Had my always favorite, 2 in 1 steamboat! It also happens to be the cousin, Apple's birthday. 22 years old on 2nd of Feb. Next gathering on the 2nd day of Chinese New Year!
